Katherine Ketcham is the coauthor of twelve books, including the bestselling classic Under The Influence: A Guide to the Myths and Realities of Alcoholism with James Milam, Ph.D. (Bantam, 1983), The Spirituality of Imperfection: Storytelling and the Search for Meaning with Ernest Kurtz, PhD (Bantam, 1992), and Beyond the Influence: Understanding and Defeating Alcoholism with William F. Ashbury (Bantam, 2000). Over one million copies of her books are currently in print.

Her most recent collaboration is BROKEN: My Story of Addiction and Redemption, a memoir by recovery advocate William Cope Moyers (Viking, September 2006).

In addition to her writing career, Kathy works part time at the Juvenile Justice Center and the alternative high school in Walla Walla, Washington, where she has developed an educational curriculum for teenagers with alcohol and/or other drug problems.

Kathy and her husband Patrick Spencer, a professor of geology at Whitman College in Walla Walla, are the proud parents of three children: Benjamin, twenty; Alison, twenty-two; and Robyn, twenty-four.
